Teaching

Marian’s teaching philosophy reflects her interests in collaborative learning. She takes a design-centric approach that puts “students at the heart” exploring and scaffolding learning experiences that recognise and respond to the individual needs of each of her students. She favours learning dynamics that permit dialogue, foster engagement through teamwork and communication, promote critical thinking and developing independent learning strategies. In her pursuits of high quality teaching, she emphasises continued and sustained lifelong learning, that takes into account the changing nature of work and workplaces. Her belief is that the continued innovative use of technology and industry collaboration becomes increasingly important in order for learning to stay relevant in the 21st century and beyond.

Marian leads a series of micro-credentials on Leading Change in Learning Environments at the University of Melbourne. The Melbourne Microcerts provide flexible, assessed short courses, delivered online to help educators develop specific knowledge, skills, and capabilities on designing, implementing and using school learning environments.
